Summary • This chapter focuses on the franchise side of fast food systems. • Roy Croc decided to recruit people to run their own restaurants and charged franchising fees. • After the experiment he listed some of the more popular things. This led to the development of Ronald McDonald, Big Mac, The Egg McMuffin, and Filet-O-Fish. • In the 1960’s and 1970’s McDonalds created “scores as millionaires.” • In the 1950’s the fee was 950.00 dollars however today it is nearly 500,000 dollars. • However McDonald’s fee is smaller than Burger King’s because McDonald’s owns and holds the lease on the property.
