for to read and make a mental note. BLUE - You should write this information down, but put it in 
your own words. Don't worry about coping it exactly. Put 
it in a way that you'll remember. BLACK - You need to write this down. It is important. If 
you can find a way to write it using less words that okay, but 
make sure you are getting this information in your notes. RED - This is very important and needs to be written in your 
notes EXACTLY as it is on the board.

the Umayyad Dynasty in 750 AD. * They build a new capital of 
Baghdad (is located in present 
day Iraq). Baghdad became the center of art, science and learning. * The Abbasid Dynasty became

of the accomplishments in art,

services to non-Arabs.

  33. The End of the Abbasid Rule * In 756 Spain fought and became 
independent of the Abbasid 
caliphate. * This weakened the Abbasid 
hold in Europe. * In the 900s AD Turkish tribes 
invade Abbasid territory and take over Baghdad. * In the 1200s Mongols attacked 
Baghdad and massacred the caliphate 
that was still there.

the 1900s
