  1. Technology for a sustainable future

  2. Introduction • ERG (Air Pollution Control) Ltd . . . • Specialist supplier of systems for: • odour control • air pollution control • 30 years’ experience • UK and Middle East offices • Over 1,000 units installed worldwide • Global network of licensees

  3. Odour Control Technologies • ERG offers 3 main technologies . . • Chemical scrubbing • Dry media filtration (activated carbon) • Biological scrubbing

  4. Air Pollution ControlTechnologies • ERG’s technologies include • Gas treatment and cooling • Venturi scrubbing • V-texTM scrubbing

  5. Municipal Composting • ERG provides the odour control measures for major municipal composting facilities

  6. Composting • The composting hall is held under slight negative pressure to ensure odour from the composting bins is contained within the building • Air is then extracted from around the composting bins and filtered through our equipment to remove odours prior to release to the atmosphere

  7. Waste management • Waste transfer stations • Air is extracted from the reception halls and baling halls for odour removal treatment, to ensure acceptable working conditions for the workforce and wider neighbourhoods

  8. Biogas treatment • V-texTM can be the solution for : • cleaning tars from biogases generated by a hot gasification process, • sulphurous compounds or VOCs from biofuels generated from anaerobic digestion processes

  9. Biogas treatment • Hot fuel gas treatment • Biogas from gasification of waste bio-materials (eg, wood chips) is cooled and cleaned and fed into an engine driving a power generator. • Problem - As the gas is cooled the tars present begin to condense (usually 90-120°C) forming viscous sticky liquids that cause fouling.  • Solution - V-tex™ offers a self-cleaning, high-efficiency, compact solution that will remove all condensibles ahead of the blower or compressor.

  10. Biogas treatment • Anaerobic digestion gas treatment • Biofuel gases can be produced from sewage works, landfill sites and by the anaerobic digestion of organic waste materials. • Problem - These gases are cool so contain fewer condensibles. Instead, they contain other compounds that can foul blowers, compressors or engines including sulphurous compounds (eg. H2S, mercaptans) or VOCs (eg. styrenes, xylenes). • Solution - Once again, V-texTM is a high-efficiency, compact scrubber that will remove these compounds from the fuel gas, using carefully selected scrubbing-liquor

  11. V-texTM | Benefits Non-clogging • No packing to foul • Applications for dirty gas/liquor • Scrubbing with slurries • Reliable performance, lower maintenance, guaranteed efficiency

  12. Packed tower scrubber 7.4 m ERG V-texTM scrubber 2.2 m V-texTM | Benefits Significantly reduced vessel height • Intense mixing, high turbulence • Gas residence time reduced approx 10-fold for same scrubbing efficiency
