  1. The Renaissance in Hadron Spectroscopy Quite a number of new narrow states just in the last two years! h’c from Belle, CLEO, BaBar Narrow DsJ BaBar, CLEO, Belle X(3872) from Belle, CDF,D0,BaBar Q+(1540) ......a confused experimental scenario Evidence not confirmed X+cc Selex D+SJ(2632) Selex

  2. Charmonium • Charmonium states are being seen in • e+e- annihilation • B decay • two-photon collisions, • hadronic production • pp annihilation It is the access to a very broad variety of quantum number JPC , many cross-checks, robust evidence and systematics controls of measurements which is making the field lively and interesting!

  3. The X(3872) New state discovered by Belle in BK (J/+-), J/µ+µ- or e+e- X(3872) seen also by CDF/D0 M = 3872.0  0.6  0.5 MeV  2.3 MeV (90 % C.L.) M = 3871.4  0.7  0.4 MeV

  4. Charmonium States abovethe DD threshold The energy region above the DD threshold at 3.73 GeV is very poorlyknown. Yet this region is rich in new physics. • The structures and the higher vector states ((3S), (4S), (5S) ...) observed by the early e+e- experiments have not all been confirmed by the latest, much more accurate measurements by BES. It is extremely important to confirm the existence of these states, which would be rich in DD decays. • This is the region where the first radial excitations of the singlet and triplet P states are expected to exist. • It is in this region that the narrow D-states occur.

  5. The hc(1P1): the less established under threshold Precise measurements of the parameters of the hc give extremely important information on the spin-dependent component of the qq confinement potential. A comparison of the hc mass with the masses of the triplet P states measures the deviation of the vector part of the qq interaction from pure one-gluon exchange. Measurement of the total width and partial width to c+ will provide anestimate of the partial width to gluons. The detection and measurement of this resonance require high statistics and excellent beam resolution. Central part of experimental program of PANDA at GSI.
