  2. Definitions • Universe: everything that exists including all matter and energy everywhere. • Astronomy: the study of what is beyond Earth. • Constellations: groups of stars that form shapes or patterns. • Solar System: our sun and all of the objects (moons, planets) that travel around it.

  3. Definitions • Star: matter that emits a huge amount of energy • Planet: matter that revolves around a star

  4. Our Solar System • Consists of: • Sun • 8 planets • Satellites (i.e. moons) • 3 dwarf planets • Comets and asteroids • Planets orbit around the sun (revolution)
