  1. Static Proof Test @ HYTECBottom Tray -002 July 23 & 24, 2003

  2. Pre-Test of Vertical Fixture • Performed vertical fixture load test/calibration checks prior to 1st test of bottom tray • Verify fixture design & accuracy of load application

  3. Test Article: Bottom Tray -002 Thermal/Mechanical Sidewalls Tower Simulator Tray #2 (from prototype tower) Bottom Tray (-002)

  4. Instrumentation Load Cell (7500 lb Max) LVDT Displacement Probes (12 Channels) Strain Gages (20 Channels)

  5. Vertical Axis Static Proof Test • Test Load: 12,760 N (40 g’s) • Test performed to 100% of 3 Static Equivalent Random Vibration Loads in tension • Compression not performed due to time constraint • Max Predicted Flexure Loads • Corner Flexure • Axial = ±2422N • Shear = ±93N • Side Flexure • Axial = ±829N • Shear = ±26N • Results: NO Evidence of Damage – Test Successful

  6. Vertical: Measured Compliance

  7. Test Load: 8600 N (27 g’s) Test performed to 100% of 3 Static Equivalent Random Vibration Loads Both directions were tested (positive & negative) Y-axis loads are more sever than X-axis Max Predicted Flexure Loads Corner Flexure Axial = ±3898N Shear = ±850N Side Flexure Axial = ±1716N Shear = ±3104N Results: NO Evidence of Damage – Test Successful Lateral Y Static Proof Test

  8. Lateral Y: Measured Compliance

  9. Lateral XY (45 Axis) Static Proof Test • Test Load: 9550 N (27 g’s) • Test performed to 100% of 3 Static Equivalent Random Vibration Loads • Both directions were tested (positive & negative) • Corner Flexure buckling critical load case • Max Predicted Flexure Loads • Corner Flexure • Axial = ±6224N • Shear = ±1473N • Side Flexure • Axial = ±1347N • Shear = ±2440N • Results: NO Evidence of Damage – Test Successful

  10. Lateral XY: Measured Compliance

  11. Lateral XY: Peak Sidewall Strains
