  2. The Lexus Eco Challenge is a program designed by Lexus and Scholastic to educate and empower students to take action to improve the environment. In our case, we well be improving wetlands an aquatic habitats for the water portion of the challenge. What is a Lexus Eco-Challenge?

  3. Within our town, Middleton, lies the 550 acre nature preserve known as Pheasant Branch Conservancy. Running through the conservancy is Pheasant Branch Creek which flows naturally from the springs found on conservancy grounds. Unfortunately, development projects have polluted the stream as well as fragmented the habitat that the conservancy provides. Our Issue:

  5. The springs and creek system provide over 2.6 million gallon of water a day to our local lake system. The wetlands in the conservancy act as a sponge, filtering the water that is headed towards our lakes. A healthy creek will provide for healthy lakes, a true treasure to the people of Madison, the City on Two Lakes. A Greater Picture...

  7. Human development and pollution has degraded the aquatic habitat that the creek currently provides. Years ago, the creek was used as a dump; today, you can find large glass shards, tires, and metal objects in the creek bed. A rotting, rusting fence, once installed to keep cows out currently encases the springs, fragmenting habitat and generating debris which will be swept downstream. The Problem

  8. - Lend a hand on Sunday, November 30th as we join forces with the Friends of Pheasant Branch to pull out the decaying fence which currently surrounds the springs.
