  2. FFW • Task #1 - Take out sheet of paper. Use the following heading: • Your Name • My Name • English 10R • January 6, 2013 • Take out introductions • If you did not write out your intro, write it out now • Task #2 - Take out CELL PHONES • Create a new text message • Enter the following phone number: (845) 477-5142 • Enter the following message: @msbugasc

  3. Lord of the Flies – Compare/Contrast Essay • Trade your introduction with your neighbor. • Check to make sure that your neighbor’s introduction is not missing any pieces of the introduction structure. • Hook • Background • Transition Sentence • Thesis Statement • Any punctuation, spelling, capitalization, grammar or wording errors you see should be marked.

  4. Body Paragraphs • Topic Sentence – This sentence tells your reader what this body paragraph is going to be about (general). • Detail Sentence(s) – Your paragraph may have many detail sentences. The detail sentences tell your reader more about your topic. Each detail sentence includes an ONEEXAMPLE. • Explanation Sentence – This sentence follows your detail sentence and explains to your reader how your example helps to prove your thesis statement. For each example you use, you need to explain it. • Transition/Concluding Sentence – This sentence wraps up what you have told the reader and gets them ready for the next paragraph.

  5. Lord of the Flies – Compare/Contrast Essay • Take out graphic organizers for body paragraphs • Question and Discussion Session – In your notebook, write down two questions you have regarding writing your body paragraphs! • Discuss

  6. Body Paragraphs • Finish brainstorming, organizing, and drafting body paragraphs

  7. Closure • Offer a piece of feedback to your neighbor’s graphic organizer

  8. Homework • Write intros and body paragraphs from the graphic organizer • Vocabulary – two times each
