  1. Compressor Line Routing PROVISIONAL COMPRESSOR LAYOUT (JOHN WEBB)

  2. Compressor Line Routing GREEN LINES SHOW ROUTING WHERE ALL LINES ARE CONNECTED FROM THE SOUTH SIDE (WILL REQUIRE TRENCH OR FALSE FLOOR) YELLOW LINES SHOW ROUTING THAT REQUIRES TRENCHES OR FALSE FLOORING I.E. ACROSS THE ASSEMBLY AREA IF ALL ROUTING COMES FROM SOUTH SIDE THEN THERE IS NO NEED TO MOVE LINES WHEN THE DEVICES ARE MOVED OFFLINE SUMITOMO COMPRESSORS NEED TO GO HERE TO KEEP LINE LENGTH TO 30m ON UPSTREAM TRACKER CRYO PURPLE LINES SHOW ROUTING THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE TRENCHES OR FALSE FLOORING ACROSS THE ASSEMBLY AREA (CANNOT ROUTE TRACKER CRYO FROM SUMITOMOS THIS WAY UNLESS >30m LINE LENGTH ACCEPTABLE)

  3. Compressor Line Routing LONGEST SUMITOMO LINE = 28.5m (ASSEMBLY AREA ROUTING) LONGEST GREEN LINES = 33-34m LONGEST PURPLE = 38.5m LONG

  4. Compressor Line Routing

  5. Compressor Line Routing YELLOW & GREEN ACROSS ASSEMBLY AREA PURPLE LINES ADJACENT TO STAIRS AND NEAR N.MEZZ

  6. Compressor Line Routing THIS SHOWS THE SPECTROMETER SOLENOID AND TANDEM LIFTING FRAME

  7. Compressor Line Routing Questions / Investigation • Can Cryomech be run at 35m? Sumitomo limited to 30m Cryomech quoted limit before losses 100ft (30.48m) – Need testing! • Do we want all connections on south side? Rules out purple lines, will need assembly area routing • Can Sumitomo compressors be temporarily disconnected or an extra length added (non operation-keep cool) when assembly area is needed? • Can all cold heads / compressors accept an extra few metres of line temporarily when devices off-line (non operation-keep cool)? • How do we manage 62 large relatively inflexible compressor lines, all the way up to the cold heads including strain releif at compressor and cold head if needed?
