Density of different soil types in Interlaken By: JJ Herrington South Seneca High School, Ovid, New York Methods- Figure 1-Sample locations and picture of collecting of soil Introduction Conclusion This soil experiment was conducted to discover different densities of different soil types. There are 3 different types of soils at the Interlaken school. The Hypotheses was accepted because the soil densities were different but not by that much. The soil had air pockets and that could’ve caused some error in the experiment. It’s possible that the soils could have the same densities due to this error. Hypotheses Different soil types have different densities. Sample #2 Sample #3 Methods Sample #1 Three samples were taking in Interlaken. See map for sample locations (figure 1). An electronic scale was used to measure the mass of the soils. A beaker was used to measure the volume of the soils. The soil had to be crushed up because of air pockets in the soil. Density was calculated and recorded on a table.
