  1. AQS and The Exchange Network AQS Conference August 23, 2012 Robert Coats

  2. ECOS and EPA Administrator Resolutions Data Submission: Make the Exchange Network the preferred means of submitting data to AQS • Status: COMPLETE • The only means of submitting data to AQS is via the Exchange Network, through either a submitting agency Node, or via the Exchange Network Services Center (ENSC). • The AQS Submit Automation Interface fully implements this requirement. Providence, Rhode Island

  3. ECOS and EPA Administrator Resolutions (cont’d) Publishing: Making AQS information available through the Exchange Network Status: Publishing schema and software developed in 2006; but Exchange Network documentation not updated to reflect this capability Plans: The next version of the AQS Flow documentation (version 3.0) will contain full documentation for this capability Providence, Rhode Island

  4. XML Support Status and Plans Status: AQS Fully supports submission of all data via XML Plans: There are no plans for AQS to stop accepting non-XML file formats (i.e., AQS delimited transactions) Please note however: The SAROAD card image formats are now formally deprecated. We will continue to accept them as long as they work, but we will not upgrade them to support new information. Providence, Rhode Island

  5. XML Schema Upgrade The AQS XML schema (and flow) will be upgraded to version 3.0 in Q4 of 2012 to accommodate new monitoring program requirements New QA assessments (transactions) New Monitor metadata The present AQS schema (v. 2.x) will continue to be supported for an extended period of time Providence, Rhode Island

  6. XML Schema Upgrade (cont’d) New Schema Version Issues: Several of the new QA assessments are not monitor specific (e.g. Lead Strip Assessments – these are an audit of the analyzing lab, rather than of a monitor) This breaks the old paradigm of the data being a pure hierarchy of Sites – Monitors – Detail-Data. i.e., the XML schema will need to change starting at the top level.
