Team Leadership • As teams grow in popularity within the business world and other organizations, much of the leadership that goes on is team leadership • Leading a team is very different from being a first-line supervisor in a traditional top-down hierarchy Chapter 10 Lesson 2 Courtesy of Comstock Images

Team Leadership • For many first-line supervisors, it comes as a shock to have to learn to operate in a new way • Even the most capable managers have trouble making the transition because all the command and control type things they were encouraged to do before are no longer appropriate Chapter 10 Lesson 2

Three Types of Trust • Deterrence-based trust is based on fear of reprisal if the trust is violated • Knowledge-based trust is based on the behavioral predictability that comes from a history of interaction • Identification-based trust is based on an emotional connection between parties Chapter 10 Lesson 2
