The Portage Avenue Thrift Shop, opened on May 6th, 2005, was initiated by Carol Cribs and her fellow nurses from Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg. This community-driven store enables volunteers to raise funds to support various organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and the Children’s Hospital. With a wide range of donations from clothing to household items, the shop not only helps those in need, such as patients and new immigrants, but also allows donors to see the impact of their contributions. Join us in making a difference!

How my opinion changed My opinion on the thrift store changed because I didn’t know that the store helped so many people, whether directly or indirectly. I learned a lot more about where the donations to and from the thrift store go.
