SAT Reasoning Test Required for all schools Three hours, forty-five minute test Take first test in spring of junior year Re-take as needed (Oct., Nov., Dec. senior year) SAT Subject Tests Recommended for some majors at the UCs and required at selective schools such as Stanford, etc. Two (or three for some schools), one hour tests Take first tests in June Re-take as needed Testing

Community Colleges • Cost effective education • Excellent place to save money • Good place if you are not ready academically or socially for the 4 year experience or moving away from home • Good place to build your academic credentials to get into a more selective college • Beware! • To be successful at a CC, you must be focused and determined to follow through

Private Schools • All have different application requirements, deadlines, and priorities • Application package typically includes: • Transcript • Test scores • Essay/personal statement • School Report (Counselor’s Recommendation) • Teacher Recommendation • Resume of activities both on and off campus

  12. Academies • If interested in the Academies - BEGIN NOW! • To secure an appointment, send for a Pre-Candidate questionnaire • Apply to each Senator and your Congressman for nomination • Follow all procedures meticulously • See handbook for details

  13. NCAA Eligibility Center • Any student who wishes to be eligible for NCAA Division I or II athletics must register with the Eligibility Center • Forms and NCAA rules are available from www.eligibilitycenter.org

  19. Financial Aid • It may seem daunting, but it’s doable! • File FAFSA application beginning January 1st • CSS Profile – beginning Oct. 1 • Most aid for college comes from two sources • The university the student attends • State and Federal Government
