  3. Supporting writing in the digital age: Writing has become more than words on paper, it is a process for sharing what we know with others. Digital tools give us more options for making that process faster, easier, inclusive and collaborative. The audience for student work has moved beyond one teacher, it has the potential to go global! Picking the right support tools depends greatly on the environments we create, the tasks we ask students to complete and the tools we can provide. We will use a phenomenal concept known as SETT to explore ways to build a writing environment that supports the struggling writer along with tools that match the tasks they are being asked to perform. We will look at computer based, portable mobile BYOd, and iPad app options for supporting writing in 4 key areas: handwriting, note taking, finding and organizing information and sharing ideas, thoughts and content knowledge in a media form that fits the message.
