  2. Grammar explanation • direct objects receive the action of the verb • The cat eats the food. • direct object pronouns (DOP) take the place of the direct object noun • The cat eats it. (referring to the food) Tengo el pasaporte. Lo tengo.

  3. Pronombres objetivos me Ellos me conocen. te Te veo. lo/la Lo quiero. or La quiero. nos Él nos invita a su fiesta. os Os echo de menos. (sólo Esp.) los/las ¡Las veo ahora! orLos llevo a la parada de autobús. the DOP is placed directly before the conjugated verb!

  4. “a personal” • When a person is the direct object of a sentence, then the “a” is required. • Invito a María para viajar a México. • No vemos al auxiliar de vuelo. • But when the DOP is used, the “a” is not used. • La invito para viajar a México. • No lo vemos.

  6. DOP with an infinitive • when an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, there are two options: • DOP before conjugated verb • DOP attached to infinitive No voy a hacer la maleta. • No la voy a hacer. (common in Spain) • No voy a hacerla. (common in LAm)
