  2. Hola me llamo Señora Styron. I was born in Cuba and have been bi-lingual since the age of 6. I am the World Language Department Chair . I have been with Chandler District for 14 years. 9 at Payne Junior High before coming to open Casteel. Before that I taught for 5 years in New Jersey. I have a B.A and an M.A from Rowan University in New Jersey. I am certified in Spanish and highly qualified in Spanish, Social Studies and Psychology. I am married and have 2 wonderful daughters and a lovely puppy named BELLE .

  4. Course overview Students will learn: Basic vocabulary, Grammar, Conversational Spanish, and various aspects of Hispanic culture. We will also integrate other disciplines into our lessons when we can. ( NO THEY WILL NOT BE FLUENT BY THE END OF SPANISH 1 )

  5. What gets graded? • If we do it then they are accountable for it. • 35%Tests/ quizzes • 15% Homework • 50% Classwork ( including bell work, oral responses, participation, work sheets etc) IF NO NAME ON WORK IT GETS DISCARDED Some assignments may have more value ( weight ) than others due to difficulty. ( students will be advised when this is the case) Students will have the opportunity to fix or redo work for full credit ,particularly if grade is under a 70. It needs to be returned the class period after I return it to them. This does not apply to work that is turned in and directions were not followed . Content can be fixed but directions must be followed the first time. TESTS and quizzes cannot be retaken!!!!!!

  6. Please check you infinite campus regularly . I also send messages through infinite campus in place of e-mails . For example requests for Parent teacher conferences . In the grade book M = missing for any reason ( not turned in, returned for corrections, absent etc.) Will become a grade when turned in after retuning from absence or corrected . I = incomplete. It was done but not finished they have 1 class period after I return it to them to complete for full credit. Notes in grade book: Finish, Fix , Redo etc. Student has 1 class period to return for full credit .

  7. Personal policies: 1.Students are expected to be prepared for class (on time with supplies). 2.Students are expected to begin working on their bell work as soon as they enter the class. 3.Students are expected to have all their supplies and be ready for class (this should include all their material and any homework due. 4.Make up work will be found in files in the back of the class ( each student will have a folder ) and it is the students’ responsibility to take, complete and turn in any make up work on time. They have one class period for each day absent.
