  1. Introduction to Calendar Sharing Jose Luis Villela February 21, 2010 EDTC 3321 Instructional Technology Practicum

  2. Needs Assessment: • Rounding up everyone for meetings doesn’t have to be complicated and take up time as much time as the meetings themselves. • Students and employees just don’t have time to schedule appointments or meetings. Students attending classes and working full time everyday have full time schedules. Not to mention the time spend with their families after they go home from a long day at work or school. Leaders and Business leaders would benefit with a calendar to share and communicate with everyone that is available. There are more important things in life and finding new technology to help us save time benefits us all.

  3. Needs Assessment: • The recommended solution for filling the gap is using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. • There many ways you can share your Calendar • A. Open Shared Calendar (Microsoft Outlook) • B. Share my Calendar (Microsoft Outlook) • C. Send a Calendar Via E-mail (Microsoft Outlook or any other) • D. Windows live Calendar

  4. Instructional Goal: • After completing this training participants can share any Calendars and send information Pc to Pc or Pc to smart phone. • Easily schedule appointments and meetings, set reminders, sync multiple calendars, and let others know when you’ll be available and when you’ll be busy • View your schedule online—by day, week, or month. Add an event in seconds. Need to reschedule? It’s as easy as drag-and-drop. • Calendar makes it easy to coordinate schedules with others while it keeps you in control of which information you share and how you share it. View personal, family, and group calendars all in one place.

  5. Performance Objectives: After completing this training, learners will be able to: • Using Microsoft Outlook, participants will share a Calendar from Pc to Pc or Pc to smart phone. • Using Windows live mail, participants will share a Calendar Pc to Pc or Pc to smart phone. • Using Microsoft Outlook or Windows live mail, participants will create a Calendar

  6. Assessment of Learning Outcomes:

  7. Learner Characteristics: • The characters I intend to focus on are students, leaders, and the public. Students may face challenges of not knowing how to use a computer. Also, the public may be limited to finding a computer because of limited resources. The implications for a large base group like students and the public are that demonstrative teaching methods limits the creativity of the individual. Yet, leaders will benefit far more. • My intended audience for this practicum are leaders. This group is educated and inform through the use of the internet and has experience with computers. • The skills that students and the public require is knowledge to use a computer and the internet. Two important things to know that can help these two groups with limited knowledge and resources in computers is to find out if they own a computer or not/ Can they use a school computer or public computer or not?

  8. Learning Context: • The learning setting for this intended practicum on using Calendar and sharing will take place at home, online, workplace, or classroom. Group characteristics will depend greatly in the impact on the constraints for the learning setting . • Public places – limited resources • Home- limited – limited resources and internet connection • Work place- competitive work related restraints. • Classroom- Individual creativity and expression is lost

  9. Instructional Strategies: • An instructional training on using Calendar sharing in Microsoft Outlook and Windows live: (a) Manage demonstrative presentations using Calendar sharing (b) Participants will know how to use Calendar and share (c) Participants can use Microsoft Outlook and Windows live to transfer information • Outlook Express Calendar sharing (a) Manage demonstrative presentation using Calendar (b) Participants will learn to use Outlook Calendar and share (c) Participants can then transfer information to pc-pc or pc- smart phone • Windows live mail (a) Manage demonstrative presentation using Calendar (b) Participants will learn to use Windows live mail and share (c) Participants can then transfer information to pc-pc or pc- smart phone assessment Participants hands on repeat the demonstration using these software's and complete by sharing your calendar pc/pc

  10. Instructional Resources: • Participants will need to have an internet access • Participants will need to have Microsoft Power point or Open office. • Participants will need to have installed in their computer a media player that can play files Mov.-Mp3.-Wmv.

  11. Training Module Blueprint:

  12. Formative Evaluation: • Peer evaluation using a survey poll • Briefly ask participants how well the instruction they participated in helped. • Briefly ask participants on some of the content that was covered to see what was gained. • Briefly ask participants what they would have change or what could have been done better.

  13. Summary • Windows live Calendar and Microsoft Outlook are some ways for communicating and sharing information faster and easier. Students like employees need to find time for important things in life. Windows live Calendar and Microsoft outlook makes communication easier when there is no time to waste. Businesses and the world have implemented many technologies to their everyday lives. Cell phones, computers, and smart phones are some examples. Business have made it easier for the consumers to shop online, pay online, and look for information online. A lot of this new creative methods that we use in our everyday lives start in institutions for higher learning. Someone may notice a need for improvement in an existent way of doing things that may improve the learners participation over all. It only takes someone to see that creativity and hard work can change how things can be done more effective. Calendars is not new technology but the creative ability to share this information works to save time for other important things.
