MVPS Fundraising Goals and Results 2013: Building Community Spirit and Support

The MVPS community aims to enhance parental pride and involvement through organized fundraising events. Our fundraising efforts are crucial since we do not receive enough government funding to meet all educational needs. This year, we are focused on technology initiatives, including providing iPads for Kindergarten and new smart boards. Our fundraising committee is actively engaging local businesses and the community to support our initiatives. Highlights include the Great Gatsby Premiere Night, which raised significant funds and established wonderful community partnerships.

  2. 2 Fundraising Goals Recap • Help to foster an environment where parents/carers are proud to be a part of the MVPS community and show their support by attending organised events • To get the local Manly community involved in the MVPS fundraising efforts and feel good about the school • Foster school pride (a fun place and a great school; supporting one another) • Balance workload for school staff with fundraising objectives

  3. 3 Fundraising Key Messages • MVPS has a strong school spirit and community with lots of volunteer support from the mums and dads • Manly Village does not receive sufficient government funding for all of our school needs. Therefore we rely on additional fundraising to support our children’s education. • The role of our Fundraising Committee is to raise funds for the school that will greatly benefit the teachers and children. • This year we are targeting technology • For e.g. Providing iPad’s for Kindy • For e.g. Providing new Smart boards and money for maintenance of Smart boards • We are focused on working closely with the local Manly Business Community, establishing partnerships and forming good relationships

  5. 5 Great Gatsby Premiere Night • We made $2,965 (great money for an 'easy' event) • Kim Hoffman did a great job leading the event • Tickets sales breakdown • 51 tickets sold in playground • 90 on Flexischools (with rainy weather Flexischools pulled through) • We used the ETFPOS machine • Fantastic raffle prizes, people responded really well • Raffle ticket total- $1,485 • Tickets sold at markets- approx. $300 • Flexischools - $200, as a trial for the next event • Tickets at The Ivanhoe - $985 • Great community partnership established with the Ivanhoe and our raffle ticket sponsors • Great coverage by the Manly Daily • All the key messages hit

  7. 7 Manly Beyond the Lens • Big Fundraiser for the year - T 3, 6th & 7th of Sep • Following on from success of 2012 Art Auction • We will be holding a Photo Exhibition & Auction at MVPS • Leads on event are Sam, Kayleen & Tiffany  • They have been preparing for the event for the last couple of months • Concept • Each class to take a photo or series of photos that captures Manly. These will be blown up/framed and auctioned at an event. • With the assistance of a parent per class the concept we hope could be achieved in 1-2 lessons. • Event • A fun evening event at the MVPS hall will be held on Sep 7th • A possible business community event to be held on Friday the 6th • Fundraising revenue will come from: • Ticket Sales • A live auction of the photos on exhibit • Raffles, Balloons, Signature cocktail etc. • Currently approaching Manly business community and recruiting parent support for prizes. Goal is approx. 300 prizes. The team are knocking on doors! •  Food & DJ • Currently working on catering • Looking to have food provided from different parents
