  6. Education Update Attendings needed for General Medicine Ward Teams in April and May!! Intern interviews ending soon-thank you to the many faculty who have participated!! Fellowships being reviewed by the department in anticipation of possible reductions in BMC support Ashish Upadhyay, M.D. joining the residency program as Associate Program Director in February Residents completing ACGME survey in anticipation of ACGME site visit in late spring 2012

Raj Krishnamurthy, M.D. appointed Medical Director of the BMC Management Services Organization Jane Liebschutz, M.D. appointed Chair of the BMC Wellness Committee AND 2012 Community Clinician of the Year from the Suffolk County Medical Society Jeffrey Samet, M.D., appointed President American Board of Addiction Medicine Richard Cohen, M.D. recipient of the 2012 Paul M. Vanhoutte Lectureship in Vascular Pharmacology Frank Farraye, M.D. named one of America’s top 125 Gastroenterologists by Becker’s ASC Review Winnie Suen, M.D. selected by the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services as one of the country’s 73 “Innovation Advisors”

Budget Update Finance Committee working on proposal for budget methodology for 2012-13 and for clinical productivity targets Discussions underway with BMC regarding CARTS Budgeting Methodology Budget planning for next year underway-will work with Non-clinical sections initially Financial performance YTD in AY 2012 ahead of budget but December showed decrease in wRVU’s and flat collections compared to December 2011

Research Update YTD research funding ahead of 2011-12 for BUSM grants and behind 2011-12 for BMC grants Planning continuing for Metabolomics core Income from existing cores running ahead of budget New Director of High Throughput Screening Core – Tom Grammatopoulos New Director of Coulter Foundation Office appointed- Alessandra Pavesio Co-funding of salary gap for K (and K-equivalent) recipients between DOM and sections starting this year
