  3. FY-2D launched and put into operation • Geostationary orbit meteorological satellite Fengyun-2D(FY-2D) successfully launched at 8:53 December 8th, 2006 • FY-2D was started to put into operation from June 27th, 2007 • Forming backup observing status based on FY-2C and 2D double satellites 3

HY-1B launched and put into operation • China’s second ocean color satellite (HY-1B) successfully launched at 11:27 April 11th, 2007 • HY-1B was started to put into testing operation from September 30th, 2007 • Purpose: observation of ocean color and SST • Payloads: • COCTS -- Chinese Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner • CZI -- Coastal Zone Imager 5

RSGS extend its facility • Beginning last year, China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station (RSGS) started to extend its receiving range to cover the whole Chinese territory • Establish western receiving station – Kashi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China • Establish southern receiving station – Sanya, Hainan Province of China • Expand receiving antenna at Miyun station – Beijing of China • The goal is to receive more than 15 satellites simultaneously • Continuously as national receiving station to responsible for receiving civil remote sensing satellites worldwide • Responsible to receive national resources satellite data such as the series of China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellites (Cbers’s), the Chinese constellation of small satellites for environment and disaster monitoring and forecasting (HJ’s) 15
