We customize the data, analysis and deliverables based on the unique circumstances and desired goals of each client to best inform strategic decision making. We utilize geospatial information technology to provide effective visualization and analysis of various data sources based on the unique strategic questions of our clients

  5. Insight Services Research Examples Public Education – How do we “right-size” our school district to manage open-enrollment, leverage community support and increase high-quality educational opportunities for our students? Religious Diocese – How can we continue to provide equitable access to liturgy and sacraments considering the continued decline / relocation of church members and resources? Private School – What is the threshold at which our tuition is no longer affordable based on the national, regional and local socio-economic trends? Healthcare – Where do we actually need MRI scanners and how do we manage their locations and use based on that need? Private Business – How do I establish areas of highest market potential based on my current and historical client base? And how do I most effectively market my services to these identified geographical areas?

  6. Minnesota Child Care Resource& Referral Network Mission Toprovide statewide leadership in shaping collaborations that build a diverse, high quality child care system accessible to all Minnesota families through local child care resource and referral services. This Mission is accomplished through: • Supporting Parent Choice • Building the Supply • Engaging Employers • Advocating for Improved Quality, Accessibility and Affordability • Improving the Quality of Care and Education The MNCCRR Network receives the majority of its funding through a grant from the MN Department of Human Services.

  7. Strategic Capacity Question How can we provide regional CCR&R network managers with access to all network data sources to increase effectiveness and efficiencies in both their day to day (tactical) work and also their longer term planning efforts (strategic)?

  8. Strategic Solution Build an integrated computer mapping application as a tool for CCR&R regional managers to access the data they need to make better informed decisions regarding tactical and strategic planning efforts.

  9. Description of Tool Provided Placement of all known state, regional and local child care and 5 year demographic data in the hands of the Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) system. This data is used and viewed on the client’s computers through the ArcReader™ tool.

  10. Benefits and Impact To-Date • CCR&R sites are integrating these tools into their planning and technical assistance efforts. They have recently used the tools to: • Target their Family, Friend, Neighbor outreach efforts to areas of high concentration • Identify English Language Learner communities who would benefit from mailings in languages other than English • Provide insightful technical assistance to potential child care providers on the demand for child care in their area • Manage timely crisis situations (such as the current Red River flooding) and provide emergency services

  11. Keys to Success • Ongoing training and skill growth throughout the system. • A well-informed CCR&R system empowered by usable, translatable data sources. • Increased data use in planning, implementation and communication efforts.

  12. Insight Services – Process • Data Collection & Integration • Building a Geo-database • Application Build & Design • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) • Training Workshops • Statewide & Regional

  16. Supporting Grant Applications Email from CCR&R staff member to TeamWorks: “Hello Ben, I am not sure if you have heard, but CCRR sites can apply for a grant due Jan. 15th, using info from GIS and ARCreader. I especially want to use the demographic data, trends, projections on children and Hispanic population in Long Prairie, Todd County. I need to get started on the grant right away, but ARCreader is the problem for me. I am not all techy. Not only have I been unable to download the software, I also had real problems understanding things at the training and the reference guide makes very little sense to me.”

  17. CCR&R Staff Testimonial Email from CCR&R staff member to Regional Manager: “Hi Terry, I emailed Ben and Jim from their office called me.  He was great teacher! I have learned so much.  Already printed maps and have a really good start on the grant. Just this morning, I had a provider call thinking of starting a child care in Todd County around Long Prairie/Clarissa/Browerville area.  She was not sure which of these little towns might be better. They are all in a 15-20 mile radius. I got out my GIS ARCreader map of Todd County, with the  0-5 population % of change for 2008-2013.  Guess what, Browerville was the Block that will have 4.5-12.5% change.  That felt really good to be able to give her that kind of very helpful info.  She can use that data and other data that I shared with her to make the best, informed decision for the success of her potential child care program/business.”
