APAN Network Technology Area

The Fall 2003 APAN Network Technology Area meeting focused on advancements in IPv6 and Layer 2 technologies. Key Working Groups (WGs) included IPv6, Measurement, Satellite, Multimedia, QoS, and Multicast. Discussions centered on deploying native IPv6 across the APAN region, particularly in CJK (China, Japan, Korea), with active involvement from various member countries. Significant projects such as the Virtual Human project and Distributed Multimedia Videoconference system at the Japan NOC were highlighted. Suresh (MY) was elected as the new chairman for the Network Technology Area.

  3. IPv6 WG • IPv6 Task Force for Gigabit to deploy native IPv6 across APAN. Initially CJK. Chaired by Xing Li (KS park and Kitatsuji) • NOC (Xing Li) • Engineering (Ma Sun) • Application (JP and Korea)

  4. Measurement WG • Election • Revamp the charter for the WG • Active measurement machine been look at for deployment.

  5. Multimedia WG • Some projects are: • Virtual Human project. • Distributed Multimedia Videoconference system deployment at JP NOC • Need participation from other country.

  6. Multicast BoF • Dongman Lee chaired the session • Multicast test-bed to do tracing. • Set-up of Multicast Beacon servers in APAN region. • Set-up mailing list. • Next APAN meeting will look at the possibility of forming a WG.

  7. Election • New Network Technology Area chairman is Suresh(MY).
