  9. Chemical emission standard ECMA-328 CONTENT • This Standard specifies methods to determine chemical emission rates from ICT & CE equipment during intended operation in an Emission Test Chamber. • The methods comprise preparation, sampling (or monitoring) in a controlled Emission Test Chamber, storage and analysis, calculation and reporting of emission rates. • The Standard includes specific methods for equipment using consumables, such as printers, and equipment not using consumables, such as monitors and PC’s. • Following the publications of the 1st edition of ECMA-328 and the “Test method for the determination of emissions from Hard Copy Devices” (RAL-UZ 122), experts from the BAM and Ecma have collaborated to harmonise methods to determine the chemical emission rates from ICT & CE equipment in the 2nd edition. http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-328.htm Rue du Rhône 114 - CH-1204 Geneva - T: +41 22 849 6000 - F: +41 22 849 6001 - www.ecma-international.org 9

  10. Chemical emission standardECMA-328 • Fast tracked of chemical emissions standardECMA-328 via ISO/IEC JTC 1/ SC 28 as ISO/IEC 28360. • ISO/IEC 28360 was published in 2007 • Ecma TC38 TG1 will continue to update ECMA-328 (i.e. measurement methods for Ultra Fine Particles) as base for future editions of ISO/IEC 28360. FUTURE Sent to ISO/IEC JTC1 ECMA-328 ISO/IEC 28360 ISO/IEC 28360 confirmed Compiled by Ecma TC38 TG1 Approved and published by ISO/IEC http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-328.htm Rue du Rhône 114 - CH-1204 Geneva - T: +41 22 849 6000 - F: +41 22 849 6001 - www.ecma-international.org 10

  11. ECD standard ECMA-341 CONTENT • The standard ECMA-341“Environmental design considerations for ICT & CE products” was globally the first available eco-design standard for this product sector and became the base for the IEC 62075 activity. With the 3rd edition it was then fully aligned with IEC 62075. It identifies design practices for the following product attributes throughout its life cycle: • Energy efficiency • Material efficiency • Consumables and batteries • Chemical and noise emissions • Extension of product lifetime • End of life considerations • Substances and preparations needing special attention • Product packaging • Documentation http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-341.htm Rue du Rhône 114 - CH-1204 Geneva - T: +41 22 849 6000 - F: +41 22 849 6001 - www.ecma-international.org 11

  12. ECD standard ECMA-341 FUTURE ECMA-341 4th edition planned to integrate latest developments such as • EU EuP Implementing Measures • REACH article requirements • other global developments in 2009 for proposal to IEC TC108 WG Environment. http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-341.htm Rue du Rhône 114 - CH-1204 Geneva - T: +41 22 849 6000 - F: +41 22 849 6001 - www.ecma-international.org 12

  13. Eco-declaration standard ECMA-370 CONTENT • In response to interest from public and institutional customers in environmental product attributes, ICT and CE experts started to develop ECMA TR/70 in 1995. • IT Företagen and Ecma International harmonised their declarations into ECMA-370 “THE ECO DECLARATION - TED”. • It provides a standardized frame/template for declaration of: • Company Environmental Profile • Product Environmental Attributes • To answer customer questions. • It provides a procedure for verification of claims http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-370.htm Rue du Rhône 114 - CH-1204 Geneva - T: +41 22 849 6000 - F: +41 22 849 6001 - www.ecma-international.org 13
