Strategic Planning forms an important part of • the CLP. • Be able to work with Club leaders and members to • develop or update the clubs’ Strategic plan. • Learn the importance of establishing goals • Be able to use the Planning Guide for Effective Rotary • Guide to work with club members to establish club • goals for the coming year.   4. Definition of a Strategic Plan • Strategic Planning is long range planning. It involves an analysis of the work environment, the economic issues, the trends, the existing competition. The trend of a strategic plan is to shape the future of the organisation, whether totally or partially. District 3310 PETS 2010/11

A strategic plan: • Gives all club members the opportunity to be • involved in planning the future of the club. • Ensures consistency and continuity among those • who carry out the goals. • Focus on significant issues and challenges facing • the club. • Promotes teamwork and commitment to strategic • issues. Priorities have to be reviewed. • Owners have to renew commitment or re-appointed. • Plan to be shared with members and get their buy-in. • Monitoring structure have to be established. • Provide Resources • Be Prepared to Change Direction • Yearly Goals have to be re-validated. • Evaluation done half-yearly District 3310 PETS 2010/11

  10. Learning Objectives • Understand effective annual and long range goals • Lead club members in establishing goals • Understand the importance of motivating club members to accomplish their goals District 3310 PETS 2010/11

Annual and Long-Range Goals • Long range goals should: • - Cover the next three to five Rotary years • - Address the elements of an effective club and each avenue of service • - Include action steps for achieving them • Annual goals should support the long range goals District 3310 PETS 2010/11

Effective Rotary Clubs • Sustain or increase their membership base • Implement successful projects that address the needs of their community • Support the Rotary Foundation through both program participation and financial contribution • Develop leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level District 3310 PETS 2010/11
