Purpose of today’s event • To provide an overview of the GLA ESF Youth Programme and wider Youth Activity • The Role of the Mayor • The Mayor provides strategic direction for ESF in London : • The GLA now has CFO status and is carrying on the work of the LDA in this area • The GLA’s ESF youth programme sits along side a broader range of youth activities

GLA ESF Youth Programme 2011-2013 • GLA CFO Plan – Priority 1.2 • Targeted approach on the most vulnerable groups with emphasis on Sustainable outcomes – 12 month sustained outcomes • Targeted at young Londoners who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or are at risk of becoming NEET

ESF Funding Opportunities • GLA ESF Youth Programme Funding • £10 million* Young People with LDD £3.5m Resettlement Support for Young Offenders £3.5m Support for Young People Excluded from Schools £2.5m up to 3 grant offers up to 3 grant offers up to 2 grant offers * Includes Management and Administration

Re-settlement of Young Offenders Leaving Custody • Eligibility: on joining be aged between 14 & 17, NEET or at risk of becoming NEET & reside • in one of London’s 32 boroughs or the City of London & be in custody on either remand or • Sentence. Geography: Central & South London, East & North London, West & South- • West London • Young People with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities • Eligibility: on joining be aged between 16 and 25, be NEET or at risk of becoming NEET, reside • in one of London’s 32 boroughs or the City of London, have a statement of SEN; or had a • statement of SEN at the point of leaving school; or have an acquired disability with low • incidence needs. Geography: Central & South London, East & North London, West & South- • West London • Re-engagement for Young People Excluded from School • Eligibility: On joining be aged 14-16 (and/or be in year 10 or 11 at school); have had at least • one exclusion within the previous school year; have had at least one other exclusion within the • present or previous term; therefore be at risk of becoming NEET; and reside in one of London’s • 32 boroughs or the City of London. Geography: South, North & East London, West, South-West • and Central London

  6. GLA ESF Application Process • The Application Process is divided into two stages; • Stage 1 – Pre-Selection Questionnaire; Open to all organisations. Closes 21st March 2012 • Stage 2 - Full Application and Interview; Only open to those selected to progress from Stage 1. Closes 8th May 2012 • Projects in delivery by September 2012 • During the Stage 1 and Stage 2 application process, applicant • will be able to submit questions for clarification to the GLA
