EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT • The purpose of the program is to prepare UCSF Medical Center to respond to an actual emergency incident or disaster in an efficient and effective manner and to support a continuum of patient services in a safe environment. • Medical Center Emergency Management is part of the Security Services Department and focuses upon the four phases of emergency management of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Issues • Outreach, Participation, and Collaborate • Reaching out to all UCSF Medical Center staff in order to prepare them to respond to an emergency incident/event • Accessibility of Information • Enabling staff to have access to information regarding emergency preparedness. • Redundancy • Having information appear in several areas to ensure outreach and participation. • Low Tech vs. High Tech • Ensuring that all items considered to be “high tech” (i.e., apps, intra/internet) are redundant in the form of low tech (i.e., hard copy).
iPad Proposal Purpose UCSF Medical Center Emergency Management iPad/mobile applications will be accessible and simple to use; provide ease of communication before, during, and after an emergency; and involve medical center staff at all levels. Objectives: Involve the four phases of emergency management: Mitigate, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery A training tool to engage UCSF Medical Center staff (ADA Compliant) Ensure that all items are updated and prepared as low-tech items and redundancies Audiences UCSF Medical Center Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Staff (focusing on Response & Recovery) All UCSF Medical Center Staff (focusing on Mitigation & Preparedness)
