Overview of Placement • Handbook page 5 • Key Dates • Day Visits – week beg. 29th September • Planning – week beg. 6th October • 8 week block – 13th Oct to 12th December • Interim Report Visit – week beg. 10th November • Students return to university for PDR – Friday, 21st November • Senior Moderator Visits – week beg. 1stDecember • External Examiners – week beg. 8th December • Final Report Visit – week beg. 8th December

Assessment of student progress Regular verbal feedback to support weekly review Formal written feedback at least once per week (RoLo) Grading in 6 key areas at Interim and Final Reports Student Profiles for Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, At Risk / Fail Evidence from above is used by students to identify targets for NQT year and by their Personal Tutor to assist reference writing

Key Features of this Placement • Note especially • 70% teaching timetable by Interim • 80% teaching for last two weeks for those students graded as Outstanding or Good at Interim • Phonics Handbook – tasks for all students to complete • Complete a written report for 1 child • The importance of the Grading Criteria to support assessment of student

  8. SBT Report • Context section to provide tutors with information for reference writing • Indicate highlight colour used for each assessment point, interim and final • Targets need to have Standards referenced • Early maths=primary age

Interim visit • University Tutor visit w/b 10thNovember 2014 • Joint observation by the University SBT Tutor and the School Tutor (class teacher) or Mentor – usually about 20 mins of the lesson followed by a discussion between the observers • Review of the student’s files, Professional Training and Development Handbooks and tasks • Discussion of the draft Interim Report • Agreeing grades for the student • Feedback to the student by the SBT tutor • NB: Please ensure that the agreed Interim Report is emailed to the SBT Tutor and the Placements Office as soon as possible after the Interim visit but no later than 14th November ‘14

Final visit • University Tutor visit w/b 8th December 2014 • No observation at this visit • Review of the student’s files, Professional Training and Development Handbooks and tasks, with particular note of progress and evidence of progression since the Interim • Discussion of the draft Final Report • Agreeing grades for the student • Feedback to the student by the SBT tutor • If student has not progressed in a section leave interim colour. • NB: Please ensure that the agreed Final Report is emailed to the SBT tutor and the Placements Office as soon as possible after the Final visit but no later than 12th December ‘14

  11. Requires improvement: Grade 3 • Proformato be used (found on Partnership website) to support students. Written by University Tutor and mentor(s) at interim stage • Clear SMART targets needed to indicate how the student will be supported with improvement. • If Grade 3 at final students will be offered targeted support at University

Students At Risk Determined at the Interim Report stage after full discussion involving Student, Class Mentor (you), University Tutor, Student Mentor / Headteacher (as appropriate) Completion of At Risk proforma with clearly defined targets – (proforma and an example on Partnership website) Senior Moderator visit in penultimate week of placement

We are assessing students, not fully qualified teachers and therefore they can be graded as Outstanding or Good Remember this might be the first time that the student has taught in this Key Stage Please complete evaluation of SBT towards the end of the last week and return to our Placement Office
