  2. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • Introduction -Recently you may have heard of the slogan of the army… “an army of one”. -While all Christians are in the Lord’s army, we are indeed responsible for being an army of one…a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (II Tim. 2:3)

  3. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • Introduction -Many soldiers have fallen in battle because they thought they only had a 2 year term, or that they were in the reserves. -But in this army…all of US are needed each day to fight. -While there is no draft to force you to join, this you must do!

  4. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Enlisted -One must come to Jesus and accept His invitation (Mt. 11:28-30; 12:30)-One must become a servant of the Lord in righteousness (Rom. 6:17-22)-One must come in obedient faith to belong to the Lord (Gal. 3:26-29)

  5. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Trained -One must be trained to know good and evil (Heb. 5:14)-One must use the sword of the Spirit to be trained correctly (II Tim. 3:16-17)-One must be disciplined in that which is godly and right (I Tim. 4:7-8)

  6. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Armed -One must have the armor of God as they enter the fight (Eph. 6:10-17)-One must have weapons to fight spiritual battles against sin. (II Cor. 10:3-6; 6:7)-One must not fight a physical battle for a spiritual cause (John 18:36; Matt. 26:51-52)

  7. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Strong -One must undergo hardship and needs to please God (II Tim. 2:3-4)-One must face and overcome temptation in their service (I Cor. 9:23, 27)-One must entrust his soul to the Lord and be faithful (I Pet. 4:12-19)

  8. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • Application -Jesus said, "He who is not with Me is against Me” -If you are not with the Lord’s army today, you can enlist -If you have not been a good soldier of Jesus Christ…you can make things right with Him today…

  12. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Obedient -One must listen and adhere to the orders of those in control (Matt. 28:18-20)-One must submit to their authority as a good soldier (Col. 3:17)-One must be true to the commander of the forces (II John 9)

  13. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Marching -One must walk after the ways of God revealed by Him (Eph. 2:10;Rom. 8:3-4)-One must walk in the Spirit to avoid committing sin (Gal. 5:16-17, 24-25)-One must walk worthy of the calling of God (Eph. 4:1-3, 17; Phil. 3:17-21)

  14. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Watching -One must be watchful for the enemy or they are defeated (II John 8)-One must see the enemy seeking the soul. (I Peter 5:8-9)-One must remember to pray and ask God for guidance (Mark 14:38)

  15. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • You Must Be Fighting -One must fight the good fight of faith for our Lord, Jesus (I Tim. 6:12; 1:18-19)-One must take a clear aim and then… hit the target (I Cor. 9:26)-One must be able to say that they have fought the good fight in this life (II Tim. 4:7-8)

  16. A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ • Application -Jesus said, "He who is not with Me is against Me” -If you are not with the Lord’s army today, you can enlist -If you have not been a good soldier of Jesus Christ…you can make things right with Him today…
