History • Needs and ideas discussed during conferences in Switzerland, Denmark and Finland. • Working group 2006-2007 • Inauguration: September 29, 2007 as part of the first European Mediation Conference in Vienna, Austria • 60 organisations and 60 individuals as founding members • Brand new! www.mediationeurope.net

  4. The idea • To cover needs not already covered by other organisations • No competition with existing organisations • Network, not a traditional umbrella organisation www.mediationeurope.net

What we want to be and do • Network for organisations, institutions and companies working in the field • Enhance collaboration • Communication; Exchange of information; Support; Learning; Building competence • Making our members visible • Promoting mediation; contribution to shaping the future of mediation in Europe www.mediationeurope.net

Enhance collaboration • Professional resource centre: Names, events, literature, links, case stories, ”best practice”… • Organisational resource centre: Ideas, advice, case stories, ”best practice”, fund raising... • A ”dating service” for members… • News exchange • Conferences • Development and research projects www.mediationeurope.net

  7. People • All voluntary work – so far • 20 board members elected from 20 European countries • First Chairman of the Board / President: Gøsta Thommesen, Norway • Vice-Chair / Vice President: Linda Reijerkerk, the Netherlands www.mediationeurope.net
