Genesis 2:4-25 KJV 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resinand onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

I will make a helper suitable for him.” 19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribsand then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the ribhe had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

Two other trees were in the middle of the garden. One of the trees gave life—the other gave the power to know the difference between right and wrong.

If you eat any fruit from that tree, you will die before the day is over!”

  13. 18 The Lord God said, “It isn’t good for the man to live alone. I need to make a suitable partner for him.”19-20 So the Lord took some soil and made animals and birds. He brought them to the man to see what names he would give each of them. Then the man named the tame animals and the birds and the wild animals. That’s how they got their names. None of these was the right kind of partner for the man. 21 So the Lord God made him fall into a deep sleep, and he took out one of the man’s ribs. Then after closing the man’s side, 22 the Lord made a woman out of the rib. The Lord God brought her to the man, 23 and the man exclaimed, “Here is someone like me!She is part of my body,    my own flesh and bones.She came from me, a man.    So I will name her Woman!” 24 That’s why a man will leave his own father and mother. He marries a woman, and the two of them become like one person. 25 Although the man and his wife were both naked, they were not ashamed.

Genesis 2:4-25 The Message This is the story of how it all started,    of Heaven and Earth when they were created. 5-7 At the time God made Earth and Heaven, before any grasses or shrubs had sprouted from the ground—God hadn’t yet sent rain on Earth, nor was there anyone around to work the ground (the whole Earth was watered by underground springs)—God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive—a living soul! 8-9 Then God planted a garden in Eden, in the east. He put the Man he had just made in it. God made all kinds of trees grow from the ground, trees beautiful to look at and good to eat. The Tree-of-Life was in the middle of the garden, also the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil.

The fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 God took the Man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order. 16-17 God commanded the Man, “You can eat from any tree in the garden, except from the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil. Don’t eat from it. The moment you eat from that tree, you’re dead.”

  16. 18-20 God said, “It’s not good for the Man to be alone; I’ll make him a helper, a companion.” So God formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them. Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name. The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn’t find a suitable companion. 21-22 God put the Man into a deep sleep. As he slept he removed one of his ribs and replaced it with flesh. God then used the rib that he had taken from the Man to make Woman and presented her to the Man. 23-25     The Man said,“Finally! Bone of my bone,    flesh of my flesh!Name her Woman    for she was made from Man.”    Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.    The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.

  17. What Did I see that I did not see before? Did you see that chapter 2:4-25 is a retell of chapter 1 with the addition of the creation of man and woman? Did you know that man was purposed to work even before the curse in Genesis 3:

  18. 7-19 He told the Man: • “Because you listened to your wife    and ate from the treeThat I commanded you not to eat from,‘Don’t eat from this tree,’The very ground is cursed because of you;    getting food from the groundWill be as painful as having babies is for your wife;    you’ll be working in pain all your life long.The ground will sprout thorns and weeds,    you’ll get your food the hard way,Planting and tilling and harvesting,    sweating in the fields from dawn to dusk,Until you return to that ground yourself, dead and buried;    you started out as dirt, you’ll end up dirt.”

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 9:6-7 The Message For a child has been born—for us!    the gift of a son—for us!He’ll take over    the running of the world.His names will be: Amazing Counselor,    Strong God,Eternal Father,    Prince of Wholeness.His ruling authority will grow,    and there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings.He’ll rule from the historic David throne    over that promised kingdom.He’ll put that kingdom on a firm footing    and keep it goingWith fair dealing and right living,    beginning now and lasting always.The zeal of God-of-the-Angel-Armies    will do all this.

They will be called    his children!10 God blesses those people who are treated badly   for doing right.They belong to the kingdom    of heaven. 11 God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.  12 Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.

He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” 5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 6 “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” 7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8 Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. 11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.” 13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” 17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
