  3. On the new boots the upper canvas was made of cotton, later nylon, and leather for the toe and heel also nylon for the neck of the boot. In 1966 after reported accounts of foot injury from punji stake traps the boots were then made with a steel plate inside the boots sole. RA Combat Boots

  7. A rubber coated fabric poncho with hood. Dyed olive green army shade 207.  Known to become heavy when wet, and the shiny finish gleams in the rain. Two poncho's can be snapped together to make a shelter.  A must have for its usefulness as a shelter or ground sheet.  It is really hot and sweaty to use as a rain garment.  Users often ended up as wet inside the poncho as they would have been without it. The poncho is a rubber coated fabric with a hood, that is dyed olive green army shade 207. When wet it was known to be heavy, also the finish that was applied to it would become shiny and gleam. You can use two ponchos to create a shelter by snapping them together. Users usually ended up soaked anyway. DY Poncho
