Overview of Concept • Military Problem Provide the Joint Force Commander with a seamless, deployable command and control capability that will enable the creation of desired effects at the right time and place to accomplish the mission. This C2 capability should enable Joint Forces to rapidly respond and decisively execute the commander’s intent in a complex, uncertain dynamic operating environment; while fully leveraging interagency support, multinational partners, and non-government organizations. • Scope This functional concept envisions joint C2 in the net-centric environment of 2015 and summarizes how future Joint C2 capabilities will support the Joint Force throughout the full range of military operations (ROMO). The Joint C2 Functional Concept describes how command and control will be performed to achieve success when executing missions and operations described in the Joint Operating Concepts. Though this document focuses on the operational level, the concept applies to C2 across all echelons.

Way Ahead Jan 07 Feb 07 Mar 07 Apr 07 May 07 Jul 07 • JC2 JFC rewrite underway – First IPT tentatively scheduled for mid-February • Schedule is tight, but Summer 07 completion still feasible • Timeline below lists schedule of events: The below timeline lists the events to occur to rewrite the JC2 JFC Commence review, validation, and approval process (FCB, JCB, JROC, Tank) 1st IPT with C/S/A (mid-February) 2nd IPT with C/S/A Red Team review Develop straw man for 1st IPT (9-11 Jan 07) Staff document in KM/DS UNCLASSIFIED
