  2. 2013 -14Non-Service pupils Amount per pupil and eligibility criteria • £900 per pupil (rising to £1,200 in 2014-15) • Registered for Free School Meals • Registered for Free School meals at any time in the past six years (‘Ever Six’ rule - actual 2013-14 allocations are based on pupils on roll in January 2013 and FSM history on all pupil level censuses since summer 2007) • Pupils who have been Looked After continuously for six months (funding allocated to the Virtual School Headteacher who releases the funds to the school in accordance with needs identified on the pupil’s PEP)

  3. 2013 -14Service pupils • £300 per pupil • Children of Service Families • Children of military personnel who have died in service • Children whose parents have left the Armed Forces and who would otherwise no longer be covered by the Service Premium. (‘Ever 3 Service Child’ means a pupil who was eligible for the Service child premium in either 2011-2012 or 2012-2013, but is not recorded as a Service child on the January 2013 School Census - this protection will be built up over the next few years to a maximum of six years)

  4. Eligibility • https://www.keytosuccess.education.gov.uk/schools has this info: • February 13, 2012: Pupil Premium - historical FSM eligibility data are now available to download. • December 19, 2012: The download of pupils attracting the 2012-13 Service Child Pupil Premium is now available to schools and PRUs. • March 5, 2013: Searchable data facility available to help schools identify incoming Year 7 pupils eligible for Summer Schools Programme for disadvantaged pupils.* *Up to £50m will also be available to fund a Summer School Programme for disadvantaged pupils to support their transition to secondary schools in September 2013.

  5. Is the ‘catch-up’ Premium separate? • The DfE has recognised that too many children are leaving primary schools not reaching level 4 in English and/or maths. To help these pupils, they have introduced a funding package allocated to secondary schools on top of the amount they are receiving per pupil through the Pupil Premium. This funding will enable secondary schools to provide catch-up classes to narrow the gap between struggling year 7 pupils and their peers. The funding has been protected until 2015.

  6. How is the Pupil Premium to be spent? • Schools are free to decide how to spend their Premium … But they will be held to account through: • the performance tables • the new Ofsted inspection framework • the new online reports to parents from September 2012 • Next year the DfE are recognising teachers and schools which do the most to boost the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils through new awards and teacher scholarships.
