Exploring Cultural Conflict: Child Branding and Societal Norms

This lesson examines the cultural conflict surrounding child branding, which is accepted in some societies but seen as abuse in the United States. Students will engage in a Socratic seminar to discuss ethical and moral implications by assessing a scenario where children are forcibly tattooed by their parents. Additionally, we'll explore India's forgotten women and their contributions to society. Through presentations and collaborative work, students will analyze demographics, colonial history, and cultural practices while developing critical thinking and discussion skills.
