Aim:Tohaveskillsforcompassionatecare The Learning Results: • To learn the necessity of compassion in health care process, • 2-To understand why important the compassion in nursing health care, • 2-To create self-awareness, • 3-To serve compassionate care to patients, • 4-To have satisfaction of compassion, • 5-To understand a patient as a human, • 6-To notice the needs of the patient and to act to meet of these needs.

  6. What is compassion? • Compassion literally means “to suffer together.” Among emotion researchers, it is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering. • Compassion is not the same as empathy or altruism, though the concepts are related. While empathy refers more generally to our ability to take the perspective of and feel the emotions of another person, compassion is when those feelings and thoughts include the desire to help. Altruism, in turn, is the kind, selfless behavior often prompted by feelings of compassion, though one can feel compassion without acting on it, and altruism isn’t always motivated by compassion.

Tool: Compassion in practice Aktivite 7: Compassionate care that is also safe and effective: • During your nursing practice, identfy a role model – a nurse about whom you can say that is the sort of nurse I want to bercome. • What is it about this nurse’s practice that you admire? • What does she or he do that has inspired you? • How does he ıor she relate to patients, convey compassion, ensure care is safe and effective? • How would you describe his or her professional values?
