  1. Needs AssessmentProblem-Finding, Problem Solving Model Kadia Alfaifi Spring 2012

  2. Reasons For Problem-Finding, Problem Solving My experience: High school students feel physics is so difficult.

  3. Problem Identification It is difficult for students to understand physics concepts by counting only on lecture. The study appointed out that “the faculty members should learn how to reach their students and how to make physics concepts be understood by their students even if they are really sophisticated in their field. Students do not think the faculty members are inadequate” (JESE, 2008)

  4. Instructional or Training Needs Identification Of Misconception: . Students’ misconception in physics needs to change and be more related to their daily life. Example, students always think physics is just a theory, formula, and solving problem. . Teachers poorly use lecture to deliver lesson. Training: . Teachers need to use games in their class.

  5. Non-Instructional Needs Funding For teacher training. More time for teacher. Computers. Internet. Tables. Boards.

  6. Instructional Needs Books. Catalogs. Games.

  7. Learning Environment The characteristics of the teachers or trainers: . Physics or mathematics major. . All teachers have at least Bachelor degree. . All teachers should know how to use games and enjoy playing. The Philosophy: Physics is FUN and ENJOYABLE.

  8. Learning Environment Hardware: Computers, and non-digital games. Characteristics of the classes: Large space, amount of time spent one hour every day. Characteristics of school system: Including all high schools, all schools have online-wall for discussion.

  9. Learning Environment Philosophy: You can learn physics by playing GAMES. Taboos: Games are NOT high expensive or harmful

  10. The Learners • The characteristics: • All high schools students. • Boys or girls. • Active (move around and play games). • Patient and cooperative.
