A reference Philippine frequency database of RM Y-STRs which will be used to complement the existing database of more conserved Y-STR markers. • Original research paper describing the extent of genetic variation and relationship among a regional population, which serve as a microcosm of the entire Philippine population, using "rapidly mutating" (RM) YSTR • markers. • The end product of these efforts is the ability to successfully resolve a wider spectrum of forensic cases through the use of DNA analysis for IMPROVED GOVERNMENT SERVICES EXPECTED OUTPUTS

  11. Extracted DNA samples from 155 males volunteers. DNA profile of 155 Filipino males generated at 23 conventional Y-STR markers using the PowerPlex Y23 kit (Promega). The result was validated using the procedure provided by Dr. Manfred Kayser, NSRI collaborator from the Erasmus Medical Center University, Rotterdam, Netherlands Ms. Salvador will be presenting her data at the International Symposium on Human Identification in Altlanta, Georgia on October 6-11,2013 ACCOMPLISHMENTS (as of May 2013)
