Purpose of Conference Call • Begin the process of identifying a strategic plan from a policy perspective • Will identify broad issues, possibly strategies • Will identify decision-making process • Will not have time to identify implementation steps, measures, workgroups • Will not decide issues or strategies • Avoided identifying general process approaches such as collaboration, membership development , student involvement under broad issues. They are critical and will be in the action plan.

Criteria for identifying specific policy priorities for CHPPD Section • Is the issue important and relevant? • Is there evidence that action will be effective? • Are there at least 2-3 members who will take the lead and coordinate activities? • Can specific activities, measures for tracking be identified by November 17, 2008?

Anything missing? • Do you see other broad issues that may be of interest to section members? • Do you want to add or modify or delete criteria for choosing Section policy priorities? • What if 2-3 members cannot be identified to coordinate activities on what is considered a priority? • Niche priority vs. shared priority interests? • How do we modify priorities from year to year?
