  2. Why I chose the '90s • I chose to do the 1990’s • This decade will feature the World Series’ from each decade and information about them • I chose to do this because I love baseball and thought it would be interesting to be able to research the various World Series’.

  3. 1990

  4. 1990 • Cincinnati Reds .vs. Oakland Athletics • This was Oakland’s third straight Series. • The Reds swept the series in four games. • Jose Rijo of the Reds won the World Series MVP after winning Game 1 and Game 4

  5. 1991

  6. 1991 • Minnesota Twins .vs. Atlanta Braves • Minnesota won the Series in an exciting 7 games • Jack Morris won the Series MVP after going 2-0 in the Series and pitching 10 innings to win Game 7 • Three of these games went into extra innings

  7. 1992

  8. 1992 • Toronto Blue Jays .vs. Atlanta Braves • This was the first World Series to be played in Canada • Toronto won the Series in six games • Pat Borders was awarded the World Series MVP • Every game except for one was decided by two runs or less

  10. 1993 • Toronto Blue Jays .vs. Philadelphia Phillies • Toronto, the defending champions won the Series in six games • Paul Molitor was the Series MVP • Joe Carter hit a walk-off homerun in Game 6 to win the Series

  12. 1994 • Baseball went on strike • 920 games were cancelled • The strike lasted 234 days • The strike also cancelled the postseason, including the World Series • This was the first time a sport had ever lost its postseason due to a labor dispute

  14. 1995 • Cleveland Indians .vs. Atlanta Braves • The Braves had made it to the World Series two of the previous four years • The Braves won the Series in six games • Tom Glavine was named the Series MVP

  16. 1996 • New York Yankees .vs. Atlanta Braves • The Yankees won the Series in 6 games • This was the Yankees 23rd World Series championship in franchise history • Atlanta outscored the Yankees 26-18 despite losing the Series

  18. 1997 • Florida Marlins .vs. Cleveland Indians • The Marlins won the Series in seven games • Livan Hernandez was named the World Series MVP • This was the Indians 2nd series in the last three years

  20. 1998 • New York Yankees .vs. San Diego Padres • The Yankees won a record 125 total games that year • The Yankees swept the Series 4-0 • Scott Brosius was the MVP of the series

  22. 1999 • New York Yankees .vs. Atlanta Braves • The Yankees swept the Braves 4-0 for their 2nd straight World Series sweep • This was the Braves 4th Series of the decade and the Yankees’ 3rd. • Mariano Rivera won the Series MVP
