  1. Utopian Uprise Creating the Perfect Society

  2. Introduction • A Utopia is an imaginary place of ideal perfection (especially in laws, government, and social conditions). At the end of Anthem, Equality 7-2521 and Liberty 5-3000 have plans for creating a Utopian Society of their own. Unfortunately, with so many changes in their lives, they don’t have time to plan and create the society. Luckily, they have six teams of architects (you!) ready to compete for the job! Over the next week, your task is to create a Utopian society that will appeal to Equality and Liberty. You must convince them to choose your group’s society over all others. Be persuasive! They will choose their favorite society, and that team will receive five extra credit points on the assignment.

  3. The First Steps • Your society must adhere to the ideas expressed in Anthem. Begin by brainstorming all the things that Equality and Liberty hated about their old society. Create a top ten list that will guide you of things to stay away from! • Look at the requirements. Decide who in your group will be responsible for each. The requirements are divided based on learning styles, so you should choose the learning style that best fits you. • Begin brainstorming what you would like your society to be like! Create a top ten list to guide your group in what to include in the society!

  4. The Task Create a Utopian Society which includes the following elements: • A name and a flag for your society • A short pledge illustrating the values and allegiances of your society • A song that could be used as your “National Anthem.” • An explanation of the form of government of your society, including laws and rights • A monetary system and an explanation of how it will work • Explanations of the type of work and recreational activities available to your citizens. • A map or model of your society • A commercial advertising your society to others. • All information presented on a trifold board • A Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting your society to the society in Anthem.
