  3. Workmen’s Compensation Fund The purpose of the Fund are : - replacing employer's liability and - giving prompt and equitable protection against injury, disease, disability or death resulting from employment

  4. Number of Occupational Injuries or disease: 2001- 2005

  5. Main functions of the WCF • Provide medical treatment and rehabilitation for employees who are faced with work-related injury ,disease • Provide protection for employees who are faced with work-related injury and occupational disease. • 3. Promoting safety at work place and work injury prevention.

  6. Roles of WCF relevant to supporting pneumoconiosis diagnosis • How to find out the worker who is suffered from inorganic dust at work, • How to Prevent • Promoting improvement tobetter Heath and safety work-place

  7. Roles of WCF relevant to supporting pneumoconiosis diagnosis • Providing statistical information • Financial Supports that is -The Department of Disease Control The Ministry of Public health - Department of Labour Protection & Welfare The Ministry of Labour - Experts from university for research - Employer and employee for training

Ministry of Public health • Supporting budget for training of occupational medicine and nurses • Acquire foreign medical experts to conduct physical examination in reading and diagnosis of X-ray films pertaining the relevant disease • Set up network for Occupational Clinic • Co-operate with networking public health hospitals which are the center of each region. • Co-ordinate with hospitals in regard to the implementation of all measures to ensure itsaeffectiveness. • To ensure all employees with work-related disease will receive proper medical treatmentin Occupational Clinic of the hospitals

  9. Establisment of Occupational Healthand safety Institution To incorporate the funtion of occupational health , safety and workmen’ compensation fund

  10. In summary. We strongly hope that we would be able to materialize at least a major part of the above plans, if not all,which would enable all the affected employees to receive the appropriated medical treatments including their rightfulclaims as a result produced by this Asian Workshop on ChestX-ray reading of Pneumoconiosis. We also hope that this training will bring about a total reduction in the Occupational /Disease in the near future.
