  2. To begin with, things are bad...

  5. When all else fails they call upon the Lord(just one of the many gods they were worshipping...)

  6. The Lord sends them a prophet(we don’t know his name)(tells them the story so far)(the next chapter is about to be written)

  7. Then God finds the worst champion he can find...

  8. Gideon is threshing wheat in a winepress... “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior!”

  9. Gideon’s response is pretty human isn’t it?“Where is God in the middle of our mess?”

  10. “My clan is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the weakest of the weak...”

  11. Gideon is starting to understand that this stranger is a divine messenger... but he doesn’t want that to be true.

  12. Then we get verse 14... “Go in the strength that you have, and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.”

  13. Am I not sending you?

  14. Do you think that God doesn’t know your shortcomings? God knows that we are probably not the best choice... He merely wants us to trust and go in the strength that we have.

  15. God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

  16. A Series of Tests and Challenges

  17. Naturally, Gideon begins to test God immediately. “Wait until I get back from fixing dinner...”
