  2. Perfect Root • The square of a whole number is a perfect root. • Square roots are sometimes written like: √16 = ± 4

  3. How to find the square root of a Perfect Square • Determine the number when multiplied by itself, will result in a perfect square. • For example:

  4. Name all of the perfect square numbers through 144.

  5. Example: 52 = 25 and (-5)2 = 25, so both 5 and -5 are square roots of 25. The principal square root of √25 is written or 5. The number √25 is a perfect square since is a whole number.
