Project Overview: Revamping the ACM Site with Joomla

DESCRIPTION

Our project aimed to improve the Old ACM site by transitioning to Joomla! 1.5 after initial compatibility issues with Joomla! 1.6. With Mr. Meade’s approval, we sourced a new template, maximizing available plugins and resolving various access permission problems through a shell script. Key features include a Gmail event calendar, categorized photo galleries, a game repository, and efficient article and file management systems. Despite some unmet requirements, future enhancements like a blog and forums are planned to keep the site dynamic.

Project challenges: • Started with Joomla! 1.6 with Orange Lab Template • Had many compatibility issues • Had Template Issues • Downgraded into Joomla! 1.5 • Found a new template with Mr. Meade’s approval • More plug-ins and help available • Permissions Problems • Solved most of the problems with a Shell Script

  6. Requirements Not Met: • Gmail Calendar: • Compatibility issues with the Drop down Menu • Video Management: • Cannot manage videos from the Front End • Solved with adding a playlist to the YouTube player • Photo Management • Photos added from the Back End cannot be edited from the Front End
