  3. What is a Wiki? • Hawaiian “quick” • Web site, anyone can contribute • Constantly changing, living collaboration • Share the creative process • Wikipedia, well known example • Not always used this way, • Flexible interface, manage digital resources and online communication -teachersfirst.com

Why WIKI? • A suitable interface between students and digital resources • Internet pages, word documents, webct, files, resource bank and now wiki. • I like wiki • Reliable, stable • Easy to use • Flexible • Intuitive • Collaborative-exciting. Students can build the site. • New opportunities for learning

Class profile http://elicostesol.amesvic.wikispaces.net/ • 10 week course in TESOL teaching methods, teaching practice, class observations. • 12 young women from Korea, interested in teaching EFL in pre-schools, primary and secondary schools in Korea • Upper-intermediate/Advanced level – CSWE 3, 4 • Stable group, high attendance, strong technology skills, highly motivated. • Computer room, one hour/ 5 weeks

  6. Process • Email to Dora to set up Wiki • Invited students to join Wiki (Manage People, Invite People) • Experimented with some different activities during the course • Finally Exported site as zipped PDF

  7. Activities • Seminar topics • Discussion board • Useful web sites • Music activity • Teacher interview questions • Export PDF Zip

  8. Observations • Useful interface to improve students learning experience. • Sites for teachers, subject base or curriculum level. • Class resources and remove paper usage. • Best if you have some access to computer rooms. • Can access at home, staff room, class room anywhere – web based. • Can be low or high maintenance.
