  7. ลักษณะของรหัส ICD-10 เป็นรหัสตัวอักษรผสมตัวเลข แต่ละรหัสขึ้นต้นด้วยตัวอักษรภาษาอังกฤษตัวพิมพ์ใหญ่ ตั้งแต่ A ถึง Z ตามด้วยเลขอารบิก 2 – 4 หลัก ระหว่างหลักที่ 3 และ 4 มีจุดคั่น เช่น A09 Diarrhoea and gastroenteritis of presumed infectious origin K52.9 Noninfective gastroenteritis and colitis, unspecified M00.96 Pyogenic arthritis, unspecified, of knee joint

  14. กลุ่มรหัสและสมาชิกกลุ่มกลุ่มรหัสและสมาชิกกลุ่ม  ในกลุ่มรหัสที่มีสมาชิกกลุ่ม ให้ใช้รหัสสมาชิกกลุ่มเท่านั้น ห้ามใช้รหัสกลุ่ม จะมีสีดำป้ายที่เลขรหัสกลุ่ม แสดงว่าเป็นรหัสที่งดใช้ เช่น Abdominal and pelvic pain R10 R10.0 Acute abdomen R10.1 Pain localized to upper abdomen R10.2 Pelvic and perineal pain R10.3 Pain localized to other part of abdomen R10.4 Other and unspecified abdominal pain

  22. เครื่องมือมาตรฐานในการให้รหัสเครื่องมือมาตรฐานในการให้รหัส • ในปัจจุบัน เครื่องมือมาตรฐาน คือ หนังสือชุด ICD-10 หรือ ICD-10-TM หรือ ICD-9-CM • ควรหลีกเลี่ยงการใช้เครื่องมือคุณภาพต่ำ เช่น โพยส่วนตัว หรือโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ ที่ไม่สมบูรณ์

  48. ICD-10 ไม่เหมือนรหัสไปรษณีย์ หนึ่งโรค อาจมีหลายชื่อ หนึ่งโรค อาจตรงกับหนึ่งรหัส หนึ่งโรค อาจตรงกับหลายรหัส หนึ่งรหัส อาจตรงกับหลายโรค คอมพิวเตอร์อาจช่วยค้นหากลุ่มรหัสที่มีความเป็นไปได้ แต่ คน ต้องช่วยคิดเลือกรหัสที่ถูกต้อง
