  3. An interval in music means the distance between two notes • Can be described by # and Quality • 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 • and Quality • Major (M) Minor (m) Perfect (P) Augmented (+) and Diminished (0) Intervals

Triad – Root, Third and Fifth (Snowman) • Major – R,M3,P5 • Minor – R,m3,P5 • Augmented – R,M3,#5 • Diminished – R,m3,b5 • Chords can be built using intervals or by using key Signature (Circle of fifths) • The C major chord is the I chord in C major • C Major scale has no #s and flats • C Major is C-E-G • C minor is C-Eb(m3)-G • C Augmented is C-E-G# • C Diminshedis C–Eb-Gb Chords
