  2. DEFINITION • CELL PHONE – A mobile telephone using a system of radio transmitters.

TIMELINE • 1973-the first cell made by Dr. Martin Cooper, the beginning of the 1G network. • 1978 -Bell launches first trial commercial cellular network in Chicago. • 1982- Nokia introduces their first cell phone. • 1983- Motorola DynaTAC 8000X is the first commercial cell phone available in the U.S. • 1990 -FCC approves the digital AMPS, the beginning of the end for analog networks. • 1991- First commercial GSM call in the world. • 1993- TXT messaging appears for 1st time LOL

  4. HISTORY OF THE CELL PHONE • Its has been more than 35 years since Martin Cooper placed the first call on a mobile phone. In 1977 the first cell phone was made in Chicago.

  10. The First Call • The first call caused a fundamental technology and communications market shift toward the person away from the place. It also created another vision for Martin Cooper. His vision was for personal wireless communication.
