Why a BSN? • Preparation for a high acuity patient population • Curriculum based on conceptual framework of health with use of evidence based practice • Preparation for care in a sophisticated technological environment • Educational foundation for a masters program • CNS: Clinical Nurse Specialist • NP: Nurse Practitioner • Administration • Nurse Anesthetist • Nurse Midwife • Expanded career possibilities

At the completion of the BSN Program the student will • Be a good Candidate for Magnet Status Hospital • Function in the role of a professional nurse (care provider, coordinator, health educator & patient advocate) • Follow nursing process to promote optimum wellness in a variety of settings • Exhibit commitment to the profession by engaging in professional development & lifelong learning • Meet eligibility for California Public health Nurse Certificate • Collaborate as a member or a leader on a health care team

Requirements Continued • Integrated & Transferable • Psy 213 Developmental Psychology** • NRS 260 Nutrition for Therapeutics & Health ** • **May be integrated into ADN Program • NCLEX Exam is not a Prerequisite • Upper Division Requirement • NRS PSY 342 Complementary & Alternative Health (Meets the C3b multicultural requirement) • ANTH 443 Medical Anthropology • Bio 432 Principles of Epidemiology & Environmental health

Program Requirements • Physical Exam • Current CPR – C Certification for health care provider • Proof of immunizations to: Rubella, mumps, Rubeola, Hep B, Varicella, Seasonal & H1N1 Flu, Tdap, Tb • Drug Screen • Criminal Background checks • Evidence of Physical and Emotional Health throughout the Program

  11. Cohort Model • Fast Track students will use the cohort model of class enrollment, this will require full time enrollment. You and your classmates move from one class to another as a group. • Enrollment in the Fast Track Program consist of five – 12 week terms, over a 14 month period. • University 7(an additional 7 units are required to graduate, to total 50 units).The 7 units can be both from lower or upper division, your choice.

  12. Program Cost • The Fast Track ADN – BSN Program is a full time program. Students who qualify are eligible for financial aid. • Program length: 5 Twelve week sessions • Total Program Units: 43Units • Unit Cost $325 per unit • Estimated Program cost: $15,201

Application ProcessApplication Date: March 1 – April 15 (Summer Start) Step One: • Apply to CSU Channel Islands online: $55 fee www.csumentor.com Step Two: • Apply to the Nursing Program online through Extended Education • www.csuci.edu/exed/ • Provide proof of graduation from an accredited ADN Program • Two letters of Recommendation from Nursing instructors • Resume • Two sets of official transcripts
